Carole King Honored at Recording Academy's 2001 New York Hero Awards

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - In ceremonies held at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City on Tuesday, December 4, 2001, Carole King was honored as a New York Hero by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. The Recording Academy's New York Hero awards are bestowed upon artists with ties to New York City. Recipients are honored for their lifelong contributions to the industry as well as for their good works outside of the music arena.

Also honored this year were KISS, Linda Moran and Russell Simmons. This year's New York Heroes Award presentations were attended by police officers and firefighters and were especially poignant because of the tragic losses of September 11th. For more information go to www.grammy.com
